I am hoping someone can help answer a question for me. I was recently hired by an employer and my written offer stated nothing about a 90 day probationary period as a condition of my employment. There was also nothing about this in the employee manual. However, my manager told me today that it is company policy for all new employees to go through a 90 day probationary period. Other jobs in Ohio where there was a 90 day probationary period it was clearly spelled out in my job offer. I accepted this job not thinking there was a probationbary period and now that they are stating there is anad because of this my loan for our new house may not close. I am a bit worried and upset that this was not submitted to me in writing at the time the offer was made by the company and accepted by me. Is there anything I can present to them supporting my belief that this would have to have been in writing at the time of my job offer. I don't see how they can add conditions after the initial offer was made and I left my other job. HELP!?!?

Mortgage companys ask if you are employed there, your wages and for how long. They dont ask if your on probation or even a temp.

Nor are they required by law to notify you in advance of any probationary periods they may have.
