Hello All:
My 19 yr old daughter signed a lease in August with her best friend and husband. When I first saw the apartment complex, I was sick with worry but I thought since she had room mates she was relatively safe. Last week while she was at school, she came home to an empty apt. No good-bye or nothing. I went and spoke with the leasing office regarding her options. She doesn't need bad credit just starting off in adulthood. They had a 1 bedroom she could transfer her lease to without penalty. But the more I hung around the complex, the more worried I have become. There are large groups of men handing outside at all hours. Sometimes she doesn't get off work till midnight and she will have to walk from the parking lot, with very poorly lighting in the lot and none going around the building to her door. The office mentioned a buy out but I wasn't sure what they meant. I guess I will have to get further info on that. Is having a very unsafe environment constitute breaking the lease? Oh, I forgot to mention that I just found out that there is a police station in the complex! That tells me how bad and dangerous it is. Any advise would help. Thank you very much. Worried Mom
