My friend and another guy signed a lease for a 2 bedroom apartment few months ago. They did not go along well so the other wanted to leave. They contacted they rental office and they were OK with him leaving if they can find someone else to add to the lease. That's where I come in. They added a supplement to the lease saying I will be there as a tenant.
Last month my friend (room mate) got fired and can not pay the rent anymore and left. I told the rental company that my room mate is not living there anymore but they said we together are responsible for paying the rent. They don't care who pays, but someone will have to pay, otherwise it will be a break of the lease and there will be penalties for breaking the lease.
Since I am not the original leaseholder and none of the original leaseholders are staying in the apartment, do I still have to pay the full rent. I live in PA by the way. Thanks in advance.
