I have turned in my 2 week notice to my current employer on 12/26/26. At this time I am getting the feeling that they are not going to honor that and let me go at the end of the week. I have been told by several people that in Michigan if you give 2 weeks notice, and either work the 2 weeks, or are forced to leave early, you are still entitled to your unused vacation time. My question is, am I really entitled to this time under Michigan law? Also I have a side concern that involves a bonus. This bonus is paid on the Friday closest to the 10th of the month and is based on performance in the prior month. This bonus is more then 1/2 of my yearly salary and is in writting signed by myself and my employer. If they do not pay this bonus what is the next step?

thanks.

"Several people" are mistaken. Michigan law does not require the payout of unused vacation time unless there is a company policy to do so. Here it is, straight from the state website:

With regards to the bonus question, what does the bonus agreement say?

The pay plan is spelled out in black and white, also signed by myself and my boss. Guess I am just a little concerned since it will amount to about 1 1/2 months worth of pay. My gut is not sitting right on the subject but I will have to wait and see what is done.

Thank you for your answer to the question. There is nothing spelled out in the employee handbook about unused vacation time and termination/resignation so I guess that money is gone.
