can you make an emp. stay until their relief comes in,even though they have a set time? say one is scheduled to get off at 4:00 and one is scheduled to come in at 4:00 but hasn't made it in. can the person be told to stay till relief is in? we're talking 10-15 min. at the most.

Unless there is an employment contract to the contrary, the employer may change the employee's hours and ask the employee to stay until the next person shows up. If the employee chooses not to stay, the employer can take any disciplinary action it sees fit up to and including termination.
