ok so I am trying to get hired on to a large company and am way past my 3 month probation period. The manager was listening in on my calls yesterday and continuously would come interrupt to say I was doing something wrong
and bring me to his office to discuss it and was saying what I was doing wrong were things like repeating myself and asking for info twice. I explained it is to confirm AND he said I need to state that to the customer....no biggie thats fine. Well this happened twice more with other small things like the EE telling me something when I know they didn't and me asking for the info anyways. Its a battle I can't win since calls are not recorded. Anyways he then comes up to me to tell me that he was going to offer me a job but now hes not. This completely destroys my confidence and I have been so depressed with noone to talk to. Everyone here is already under stress just trying to get on since they only pick a few people a month and no im not due to a few mistakes. The problem is-is that my quality average is still better
than half the people he has hired so he is holding me to higher standards than others. I have told him I feel uncomfortable and nervous about how he talks to me and since he said that I have just fallen apart. I spoke to my supervisors who were both shocked and disgusted but they don't wanna touch it.

any input? I have researched what constitutes harassment and feel this could qualify. I know him being a jerk is legal so any advice would help. Thanks

Based on what you have posted, I do not agree that this constitutes any form of illegal harassment. He may or may not be treating you fairly; it's very hard to say with only one side of the story. However, unless you have a valid and supportable reason to believe that you are being treated this way BECAUSE OF your membership in a protected group (race, religion, national origin, etc. - and you have posted nothing to suggest that this is the case) it is not illegal.

so you are saying that he is allowed to hold me to a higher standard than other employees in the same position? I have already excelled past others he has hired but he is only picking on me and that I can prove.

Yes, that is what she is saying.

It is a myth that all employees have to be treated exactly alike. I've already told you the only circumstances under which it is illegal to treat someone differently. If you are not being treated adversely for a reason protected by law, he can hold you to whatever standard he wants, regardless of how others are treated. Quite frankly, how others are treated is none of your business (as it is no one else's business how you are treated).

It is not illegal to "pick on you" except as already described so it doesn't matter whether you can prove it or not.
