Hello,

What are the requirements or "proof" needed for requesting mileage reimbursement?

I was told to keep receipts from gas stations but I didn't. I did pay with credit cards so I do have statements showing that I went to the pump.

From my previous employer I was just told to keep track of the mileage which I always looked it up on yahoo or google.

Please assist...

Thank you.

Does your employer pay you by the tankful of gas? If so, the credit card receipts should suffice but most employers don't do that as there's no way to sort out what was business related and what was personal.

Does your employer have you fill out an expense report? Most do - and that's the form you use to report where you went, why, and how much mileage was incurred. Sounds like you need to look to your employer for clarification of what they need in order to reimburse you for your travel expenses.

And would it be out of line to ask why you did not keep receipts when you were told to do so?

i didn't want to charge them for gas at first because i didn't care. our "relationship" got sour and i kept their equipment because the check they wrote me would've bounced because it was already in the overdraft. i waited almost a week to cash it constantly checking if they had funds.

now that i cashed it they are "threatening" me that i am "stealing" their equipment and whatnot. not my fault they wrote a check not knowing how much they have in the account. (previous employees have complaint in the past)

anyhow... they will pay me back the remaining amount in cash and i need to return the stuff... but because they think that I did something wrong by not returning their call and what not im going to charge them for the mileage which totals up to 668miles round trips

mainly from OC to SD and back

and they verbally said that they'll reimburse me and to keep the receipts. on the "contract" it says something about reimbursement 60miles and above (i'll have to find that contract) which i've never signed anyhow.

so im guessing im out of luck....? 668 miles is ALOT of driving and MOOLA :)

Return the equipment. Then, file a claim with the DLSE for the mileage, and the bad checks.
