If I become pregnant does that fall under short-term disability and how long do I have off work?

If you have short-term disability insurance purchased through your employer, or on your own, that you have purchased prior to becoming pregnant, it should provide you with a reduced income when you are medically unable to work. STD policies do not have to provide for pre-existing conditions.

If your employer is subject to the federal FMLA laws, and you meet the eligibility criteria, then you have up to 12 weeks of job-protected leave. FMLA is, by its nature, unpaid time.

How big is this employer and how long have you worked there?
