I've been working for an electrical company for 4 years. My pay has been at 22hr for about 2 yrs. We get paid piece on the houses we wire on top of our hourly. ie: if a house pays 500.00 and I wire the house in 10 hours at 10.00 an hr there is 400.00 dollars left. I get the 400 and move on to the next house. My production has always been very good. I hit a slump because of personal things going on in my life. We do rely on our hourly wage for things like vacation that we only get our base hourly for and for things we fix on houses that have already been paid out. My production has been back up recently but they lowered me from 22hr to 17hr with no demotion just a pay decrease. Is this legal? Thank you in advance for any replies.

Regarding your downward rate-of-pay adjustment. Your employer is generally able to set your rate-of-pay at whatever he wants and you are generally free to accept it or quit. Of course, I am assuming that you are not covered by a union contract and that your rate is not being cut because of your of your race, color, religion, etc.
