I forgot to mention on my previous post. The company does pay time and a half for Thanksgiving per the employee handbook. So I know the 8 hours that will be worked on Thanksgiving will be the 8 hours at time and a half, I was curious about the other hours. Because the total hours for the week are 48 and I'm already getting paid time and a for the holiday do I still get 8 hour overtime (time and a half) for the hours worked over 40. I kind of seems if they don't I am penalized for working 8 additional hours in a work week just because 8 of them are already time and a half because of the holiday. Let me know if there is something not understood and I will try to explain better. Thanks for any help given.

If you worked for us, you would get 32 regular, 8 holiday premium (time and a half) and 8 overtime.
Your company could legally pay time and a half for the holiday and pay you NO overtime, but I seriously doubt they will do that. They have put in the policy manual that you get time and a half for working on a holiday and they probably have something in there about getting time and a half for working more than 40 hours.
I am not a betting person, but I would guess you will get paid by them just the same way we would pay you.
You asked what the law requires. The law does NOT require that you receive any premium for working on a holiday. As far as the law is concerned, if you work 8 hours, you get paid for 8 hours, straight time, unless those hours are over 40 for the week, in which case it is time and a half.
There is NO requirement that you get paid a premium for working on a holiday, period, with VERY few exceptions, none of which apply in Ohio.
Your employer may choose to offer a premium. They are not required to.
