My husband passed away not too long ago and my daughter is very ill and may not have long to live herself. What would happen if she were to pass away? What could I do and how???

I do not know the laws that apply to this situation. The father was not involved in the childs life, so I do not know if the courts would let me continue to keep the child, or will they take me away. I am a good grandparent, but I am just concerned.

Are you asking about custody of a grandchild? The situation is that you and your husband were taking care of a grandchild until your husband died.
