This is a very complicated situation and im desperate for help. I adopted my husband daughter 3 yrs ago. Her biological mom gave up her rights. She is now 12 and has been arrested twice and and in juvey hall twice. She has 2 charges against her now of unrulyness and domestic violence. I call the cops on her at least twice a week. She has turned me in for child-abuse twice now. We have tried to give her to her grandparents in Virginia but there laws are different due to it being a commonwealth. so Ohio laws and Virginia dont agree so we had to bring her back. Now her biological mom wants her and my husband and i are willing to give her mom her completely. But i dont know where to start. We have tried everything including thereapy. Nothing works and i have a 10 yr old son and a 18month old am scared she will hurt them . She has already hit me and my husband and now shes hitting her older brother. I am scared for my family i cant sleep at night scared of what she will do to us. We dont want her here anymore but the law and state is telling me sorry shes yours. The cops dont even do anything. I dont kwo what t o do hee bio mom lives in Arizona. Can i transfer custody without going back to court or is ther away to give her all rights. PLEASE HELP. Desperate in Ohio

I'm not really sure that custody can be transferred in a situation like this. But I do know that this is complicated enough that you'll need to have an attorney for this. I'm not real sure but I think that it's possible to give a non legal relative guardianship, but again an attorney will be able to help.

I am sure this may be the last resort, but have you spoken with Children's Services about any programs they may have that could help you? I know that doing this would make some people cringe and say that you're a horrible person, however, if you truly feel that the lives of you and your family are at risk, they may be the only ones that can help you. They have programs and can refer you to other programs for children with the problems that your daughter has. JUST because you talk to them does not mean you are giving her up or that you are a bad parent. It means that you want her to get help and you are trying to protect your other children, your husband and yourself from being hurt.
I am saying this as your last resort. But just consider it. Call them anonymously to find out what is available to you. They can put you in touch with your local mental health programs for juveniles. There are inpatient and outpatient programs.
Just a thought, you are in my prayers.
