Hi! I was wondering if someone would please let me know what information constitutes as confidential as far as employee records are concerned. What needs to be locked up in a filing cabinet and what does not. I am under the impression that I-9's are to be filed completely sepreate from everything else. Should they be locked up? What about OSHA documents, written warnings, and dmv reports? I appreciate any help that I can get.
Thanks ever so much!:o

Medical information is the only thing that by law must be kept separate. There are lots of things that are generally kept either separate or under limited access as a best practice.

It is best practice to keep I-9's separate but it is not required by law.
