I thank all of you for your replies and your time.
If I have signed an appointment letter outside US (India) is it applicable in US ? and does the appointment letter carry any value if the company first files a petition for H1B visa and then gives an appointment letter. I got H1B visa stamped and then got the appointment letter.
Also, the company is mentioning in its letter to homland security that they have offered a post to me . This letter to homland security is much before I signed and got appointment letter.
You don't seem to understand.
WE CANNOT COMMENT ON THE ENFORCEABILITY OF LETTERS WE HAVE NOT READ.
The EXACT wording of the documents can make a difference. The law is not so cut and dried that we can tell you on the basis of your description whether they are enforceable or not.
The ONLY way you are going to be able to get a determination on ANY document's enforceability at any given time is after you have shown it to an attorney in your state.
A free bulletin board CANNOT tell you if any particular document is enforceable under any particular situations. That is beyond our capability.

Thanks for all your time and reply.
I know that best thing is to contact the lawyer and I will be doing that. Nobody will rely on just free bulletin messege.
The main reasons post a messge on this board were.
1. To gather information and knowledge as much as possible reagarding the matter.
2. Get advice from experts/lawyers which hv seen/particpated similar cases NOT only on this bulletin but in court etc.
3. If somebody had faced similar situation in the past , understand the remedies/ action /loopholes that can be used.
My only question remaining now is -
Whats is enforceable contract ? Is it required to be made in court of law ?in presence of witness etc or what ?
In my country (India) - it is required to be on a paper from court which carry some value depending on agreement value, registration in presence of judge etc.
Is similar thing is applicable here ? Or by signing a paper, it turns out to be contract/agreement ?
I hope at least somebody can answer this question. Pl answer my question if anybody knows. I know that a lawyer can answer this and i need to go to lawyer but I need to do my homework also

A contract in the U.S. does not need to be approved by a court or a judge.
