My fiance' just started paying child support and is paying it on his own since he relocated and he was between jobs when the order went into effect. He is now employed and my question is does the payment have to go through his employer and if so why? and he gets paid biweekly, how does that work if he has 3 paychecks in one month?
thanks for any help...

Is it in the order that his child support will be garnished from his wages?
It is to ensure that the child support is paid on time and in full every month. This is as much for his protection (theoretically, anyway) as it is for the the CP's.
The proper amount will be taken out every month. It may seem like overpayment when he gets paid 3 times/month, but if you add it up for the total year, it comes out even. (I know it seems confusing, but it does work out.) The child support is actually calculated how much is owed every month to add up to a yearly total.

Mommyof4 is correct. They give you a monthly amount, then they figure the yearly amount, then divide it by 26 pays per year if you are paid biweekly. It all comes out to the proper amount at the end of the year.

CS is typically garnished if the obligee is employed at the time. It didn't use to be this way, but garnishment is pretty standard these days. But if its not in the order it doesn't have to be that way.
