My husband and another father placed their names on a lease for a house in Florida. There are currently 4 students renting. The problem is our son broke both of his wrists in an accident and had surgery here in Boston (we are from NH). He recently returned for a follow up visit in Boston and is in need of another surgery which will require him to be out of school. We are pulling him out of school for the surgery in Boston. He will also be in need of follow up and physical/occupational therapy after. The rest of the semester is a wash. The problem is we do not want to be responsible for the lease until June as our son will not live there anymore. Are there any ways we can legally get out of the lease for medical reasons. The request for two people on the lease was from the landlord. If my husband comes off the lease that would leave one person on it. We have tried to get others to go on the lease but no one yet. We do have someone to pay our share of the rent. Any advice would be most grateful. What would happen if we broke the lease? Would the landlord keep our deposit? Would it ruin my husband's credit?? Worried in NH
