Our pizza shop is starting a new policy. If the M.O.D. is short a box he/she has to pay for a missing pizza.. Is this legal?

My understanding is, they can fire you for the missing pizza, and then take you to court for the cost, if they can prove you were responsible for it dissapearing, but they can NOT deduct it from your paycheck. Someone else will come to back this up, or add, or tell me if I am wrong in any way. Good luck!

Ohio has very few wage payment laws of its own, and I could not find a prohibition against such a deduction in Ohio law. Having said that, though, it doesn't mean there isn't one (although I doubt it) and it doesn't mean this is necessarily a good idea.

I'm not sure what an M.O.D is?

MOD is the "Manager on duty". (at least, that's how I read it.)
