Hi... I'm trying to find out if there is a law or rule in WA state regarding employer mandated annual physical exams, when the employer does not pay the cost of the exam. Does anyone know where I can get more info on this topic?:o

None that I could find. However, you can call the DLI to confirm. I would say, though, that this stinks. If the employer is requiring the exam, he should pay for it. They aren't trying to deduct it from your paycheck, are they? And, they are paying for your time in going to the appointment, right?

I know that there are some jobs that require physicals (airline pilots, for instance), but the company pays for those....
Hmmm.. this is new.

Hi all,
Thanks so much for your replies... In answer to your questions, the employer does not compensate for time spent obtaining the PE and does not deduct from paycheck either. It's more along the line that the employer requires the exam and the employee must seek it out and pay for it also. That's if they want to work.
It sounds like the employer is going to drop this policy, though. So we made progress! I appreciate the replies!
