My wife was diagnosed with inoperable non small cell lung cancer in early August. She has been working for a company for almost 2 years. The last 10 months as a hired in employee. Before that as a temp. She was placed on short term disability but is being told she must come back to work for the next two months in order to be eligible for long term disability. There is no way she can do this, but they are telling her she has to or she will be terminated and lose all her benefits. The doctor is telling her there is no way she can work at this time. Is there anything we can do to keep her from losing her job and benefits?

Unfortunately, the longest that an employer is required to hold her job under the law, regardless of the circumstances, is 12 weeks.
