I was wondering if there is any requirement by OSHA or any other place that requires a Manufacturing Company to have a safety officer? I ask this because where I work used to have a safety officer that was OSHA certified. that person was terminated early this year.. since then there has been someone they say is saftey officer but this person has no training what so ever in safety.. they were told to update the MSDS books and had done this with a little outside help. that is all they have been able to do..

thank you for any information

I doubt that OSHA requires companies to have specially trained safety personnel. Nor would it care, so long as the safety standards are followed.

It is the best interests of the company to make sure that there is someone or some system in place to meet OSHA requirements.
