My Apartment leas is going to be up at the end of the month, I told the comple I did not want to sign another lease at the beginning of the month then later in writing. Now they saw I have not giving 30 days and I have to pay an additional months rent yet I can not find that in my lease that it automatically renews as the office is telling me. What are the laws on this and my options at this point?

The laws basically state that you should give a written 30 day notice, and your landlord would have had to do that if they didn't want to renew the lease to you. It is fair, and it is unfortunate, that they are not including the time from when you verbally told them. Sorry!!

My lease is set to expire on 31 September 2006, since this is a false date is there anything I can do about that? I am moving out and gave verbal notice at the beginning of the month and written on the 20 of the month, what are my options, since they want to charge me another months rent.

Verbal notice is paramount to no notice at all since tenants often give verbal notice and then change their mind. A written notice cannot be disputed in court and serves as proof of intent to vacate. You should have given written notice on the 1st. Your choices are to delay your move or risk ruining your rental background and or credit. Always put everything in writing if it's important enough to have an impact on your life. Google your way to Tn. Landlord and tenant laws for information on your tenant rights.
