I was notified by the company that vacation was being assigned for me. The reason for this is to offset a surplus of employees. I checked with a supervisor as to whether or not they can use my accumulated vacation time to force this vacation time. The answer was to my surprize was yes, they were going to burn my accumulated vacation time. Can they do this?

Yes, they can, unless you are covered by a collective bargaining agreement that says they can't.
