Can a Landlord hold your deposit for not allowing potential buyers to look at his house??
I left the house a month ago, clean and without a problem. I had 29 requests to show the house to potential buyers. 9 of them were denied, as they were disrupting my peace, comfort and privacy. All requests were made previously by the real state agent with as little as zero minutes before the requested appointment to as long as 24hrs prior to the requested date.
Since the visits to the home by potential buyers were very often, I offered to move ahead of time to the landlord and he refused to accept.
I even allowed potential buyers to show up as early as 6 months prior to the contract being lease, where the lease indicated 90 days prior to the contract being leased.
The only argument I get from the Landlord for holding my deposit is that he "lost a lot of money because, I did not allow buyers to come in"

He would be well within his rights to sue you for damages exceeding your deposit. You did breach your lease and it could have cost him the sale of the home. Nobody wants to buy a house with a bad tenant. As for the deposit, and his ability to withold it due to your behavior, I really don't know. But, I am inclined to think that he is in the wrong.
