I occupied a resident for a total of 7yrs. On July 21st, LL presented me with a letter stating they had sold the house and I had 30 days to move. Upon moving in I signed a year long giving him 1st month rent 250.00, last month 250.00 and a security of 150.00. I vacated the premises on the 27th of August. I was gracious for the extra week. We scheduled a walk-thru on the 28th. They didn't show up. It was only 2 week later they did a walk-thru said everything was fine and I would get my money. They did not do a move in checklist. Neither a move out. The house has been sold. After numerous phone calls and visit to the LL, and promises from the LL; the story has changed. I visited LL on September 15, Friday and was informed that he could not find the lease or "paper work" but would bring the money to me on Saturday. Well, we have have always had a great relationship and he even wrote me a nice recommendation letter. I only a lease signed the 1st year all other 6 yrs were month to month. So on late Saturday evening I gave him call and stated he still had not found the papers. Well, I needed the money to move into my new place on Monday and explained it to him. We got along well. He said call him back. I did and he blew up saying I wasnt getting sh--! What is my next course of action. I have research La. law. Should I send certified letter requesting for the money and how much do I receive?
