I currently am owed $10,000 in back support it is court ordered $122.00/weekly in child support. I get cs not often but when I do I think of it as a bonus. Well today I received two checks for $160.80 and a letter from child support enforcement saying since April of this year all payments I have received have not been mine...My ex was not the one sending the money..that an employer has made an error in someones paperwork and the state of ct paid me $2800.00 and I need to pay it back??? My question is what do I do?? Its not like I keep this money in a savings account I use this money for my child!! The checks were made out in my name so I didnt cash anyones check they were mine!! (or so I thought) Is there anything I can do I dont have this money???

Although the only thing this has to do with employment law is that an employer (or somebody) made a mistake with identifying a child support remittance, I'll answer.

Yes, you do. If the support was not withheld from the noncustodial parent, and you received it therefore in error, why do you think you wouldn't have to pay it back?

And since that connection with employment law is not enough to satisfy me that this thread belongs here, I'm closing the thread with that answer.
