I had so-called 'friends' staying here with me for 3 1/2 weeks. During this time frame, they did nothing except run up my electricity, use my bandwidth for their computers, and eat all my food. No attempt was made by either adult to get a job, and when asked about applying for public assistance, that was met with a flat out NO WAY. I finally asked them to leave, since I couldn't support their family (2 adults and 2 kids) and my family as well with no assistance from them! So they left, taking what they could get into their car... mostly clothes and their computers. Now, I still have a bedroom full of their stuff, including beds, and I need the bedroom back for MY kids. They have been gone over a week, and no attempt to contact me or come by to get any of their stuff has been made. What legal recourse do I have? I can't afford to get a truck and load their stuff to a storage facility (which expects payment up front for the 1st month!).

I'm not sure what I can do, since they never paid any money towards staying here, nor did they buy anything or do anything towards helping out, like cleaning or cutting grass, even. My electric bill doubled for the month!! They have no mail coming here, and I have no idea where they went.

HELP! I need my house back!!

Send them a certified letter return receipt requested to their last known address (yours). If mail forwarding is in effect, then it will get to them or it will be returned to you (don't open it). State in the letter that they have 30 days to pick up their stuff or it will be donated/thrown away/sold.

I'll do that as soon as the post office opens back up after lunch :) (We live in a SMALL town :D )

Thanks for the suggestion!
