Yes, you read it correct... he owes over 44 thousand in unpaid child support. If he would file his taxes all of his return if any would come to my child. He job jumps, when the child support enforcement finds him and takes money from his check he quits his job and moves on to another, when they jail him he pays a couple of hundred and they let him out on the promise that he will pay some more but it never happens. I think he likes it in jail, one time he even turned himself in... (I don't think he had a place to stay at the time). If I could only file his taxes for him or the federal tax people would allow me to file his taxes some way, I might get a little money for my child... does anyone know a way to do this?

Its not that he wants to file them... so I don't see that happening... he knows that all the money would go to the child and thats why he doesn't file them... they need to change the law.

Why don't you just contact the IRS and let them in on the fact that he has not filed taxes. It's not necessarily fraud to not file a tax return if he does not owe taxes.

No, you cannot file your ex's tax return for him. It is against the law- it is called fraud. (you would have to sign HIS name on the return- do you really want to go to prison for fraud and forgery?)
I understand your frustration, but just think about it- would YOU like it if another person were able to file YOUR tax return?
I agree with the other poster, try contacting the IRS. Other than that there is unfortunately very little you can do, sorry.
