IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND MY HUSBAND WAS LAID OFF THE NEXT DAY HIS JOB HAD PLACED AN AD NOW HIRING 10 POSTIONS FOR 10. HR BUT DON;T YOU THINK THEY SHOULD OFFERED THE 10.00 JOB TO MY HUSBAND AND TO THE 9 OTHER PEOPLE WAS LAID OFF :confused: INSTEAD HIRING ANY MORE?

They could have, but weren't legally bound to.
Nothing says they can't lay off a person and then hire for that same position the same day unless the reason for the layoff was to discriminate against a legally protected group.

Sonya, yes, I think it probably should have be offered to him instead of someone else. Not definitely, because we don't know all the details, but probably.
However, that doesn't change the fact that they were not legally obligated to do so. My opinion and two bucks will get you a cup of coffee. My opinion does not create a legal obligation.
On the basis of the facts you provided us, no laws were violated and your husband is out of luck. He can file for unemployment but that's about it.
