Just need a answer in regards to the numbers of hours per day an employer is allowed to keep an employee. The labor law definitions dont seem to answer my question and seem a bit vague.

You may be having difficulty finding your answer because Federal nor Nevada labor code caps the number of hours an employer can require an employee to work. This is a matter of company policy (should one exist). Also if you are employed under an enforceable employment contract or collective bargaining agreements, those agreements may address a maximum hour requirement. There are also some industry specific exceptions (i.e. airline pilots). I'm not sure if any would apply here since you did not mention your industry in your post.

No. There is nothing whatsoever illegal about an employer requiring an employee to remain beyond their scheduled shift.

Unless you are in one of the industries Robb references, the maximum number of hours an employee can be required to work per day is 24.
