I work for a US division of a company based in Europe. We manufacture equipment in Europe that comes with three to five year warranties. Typically, we replace any items that break, wear, or are defective under the warranty rather than trying to repair them.

Does anyone know the laws on how long we must have available replacement parts for old products when we phase out one product line (assuming any ever were available)? Or perhaps I should ask: Is it acceptable / legal to offer customers a similar product when their phased-out, though still covered by warranty product fails?

Thanks in advance for any and all input.

Sorry, I don't practice this area of the law.
