hey ive been confused about one thing all year i work with a engineering company. At this company i am a inspector on different construction jobs, my work guarantees me 40 hrs but wen i work overtime its deducted, but just my overtime but my normally hourly pay as well. We have so called rain days, say if the contractor i am inspecting gets rained out a day we go home and get 8 hrs, but if they work over 40 our pay is less. Is this legal?
example
if u make $10.00 a hr for 40hrs= $400.00
if u work 50hrs u take $400.00 divide it by 50 and u get a rate of $8.00
then u take $8.00 times 40 =$320.00, then say 8 times 1.5=$12 times 10hrs=120 that would b 320+120=$440 would b yr total pay for 50hrs. thats only $40 for 10hrs of ot from yr regular weekly pay.
say u have a rain day it would b $400 divided by 32 hrs =$12.50hr, but if i work ot this week also its not counted for untill i work over 8 hrs to make up the 8 for the rain day! Also wat if u hardly get any rain days and work alot of overtime what happens there?
this real confusing to me so maybe u can help me out!
