I was denied unemployment and I think I deserve it :p .

This is the letter I recieved in the mail

The following determination has been made in connection with your claim for unemployment insurance benefits:

The claimant left work at (deleted by moderator) because HIS PAY WAS REDUCED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS.

Since the employer did not have the ability to control such conditions or acts, the claimant left work voluntarily without good cause attributable to the employer

Therefore, the claimant is ineligible for benefits for each week during the period from 07-16-2006 through 07-29-2006 and will be determined ineligible for each week thereafter until he has had employment in at least four calendar weeks and has had earnings in each of the weeks that equal or exceed $106.00, which is the current weekly benefit amount.

No benefit credit has been given to you for the period indicated in the determination since you were held ineligible for such a period

I am from Illinios and I was employed at (deleted by moderator) working third shift while in highschool working 30-60 hours a week (usually 40). All the sudden one week on my check I went from $7.25 to $6.90 :( . I asked the manager about this and he told me these exact words that really kind of pissed me off, "You were probably being overpaid anyways, I will check my papers and see what went wrong if anything". I said okay, and waited 1 week, then asked him about it again. He "didn't get around to it". Okay, another week passes he still "didn't get around to it" so then I quit.
Also I did loose most of my paystubs that prove that this happened, so I am going to call the (deleted by moderator) corperate office and ask for these and say I need them "for my records". Hopefully I can get them before 9-9-2006 (my appeal due date).

I don't know who else would of quit their job if this happened to them? Would it even be worth it to file an appeal? I guess it sounds like I am just venting (which I am )

Well, it might make some find another job but your employer is premitted to reduce your pay rate if they choose. It wasn't a huge reduction in the grand scheme of things, so it may not be considered by the state to be a significant enoug hreason to just quit outright.

You have done what you need to do which is appeal. Unfortunately the state isn't going to grant benefits based on how mad you were or the attitude of the manager, only if they feel it was justification to quit immediately.

If you do not get the paystubs from the employer based on your request, then ypu should file a subpoena through IDES and request them. At that point, the employer is all but obligated to produce them for the hearing.
