I'm 15 years old, and my parents are divorced and have joint custody. Although they have worked out a schedule where I spend most of my time with my mother. Also, my father does pay child support My father is remarried and I severely dislike his new wife and step children. I've had to deal with their behavior, and their verbally abusive attitude towards me, for almost 10 years and I'm fed up with it. I wanted to know if it's at all possible for my mom to attain sole custody without losing the child support my father pays her.

I am afraid that being verbally abusive, and not likeing his new family wouldn't make a judge grant that. Your mom could try, but I can't say based on what you have said, that it would be granted.

even if your mom did get sole custody, your dad would still get visitation. and you would have to go, or your mom could be held in contempt. you have no right to refuse to see dad untill youre 18, or you may be living with dad eventually.

Kelly is right, your mom could be charged, if you refuse to see your dad when it is court ordered, so sorry to tell you this.
