I work for a painting company, the painting company i work for is in the union and the company was hired by a factory to work there everyday and paint and clean the machines and parts there. So my father is the paint shop supervisor at this factory and i work there also, but he is not the owner of the paint company we both work for he just runs the shop at this certain factory, and about 3 weeks ago i came to him saying i was going to lease a brand new truck, but he said if i was to do this then i would have to find a new job.! is it legal for him to fire me for something like that?

Since there is no law saying you cannot be fired for this reason yes, it is.

However, since you are union, you will have to look to your union contract as well.
