I have a tenant that lives in one section of a row house. The neighbor next to him has been, allegedly, confrontation and intrusive on several occassions. He has also filed papers with the magristrate on my tenant because of bad behavior (which he sent to my house - somehow finding out what my address is even though my tenant only has my PO box number and I don't know anyone else in that neighborhood), but I find it hard to believe that my tenant would be such a trouble. Based on my conversations with my tenant...other neighbors have had issues with this person and my tenant is going to file papers himself with the magristrate about this neighbor. Is there anything I can do? Is there anything I should do? Am I liable in someway?

I don't think you are liable, but you can give a letter of character that states that what this person is claiming is something that has never been heard of, even by neighbors. The tenant can also get letters from the other neighbors that state what they think of him. If you have any records of complaints against the tenant, that filed the papers, I would send them, to show that this may be retaliation for getting him/her in trouble with you . If the police have been called over any altercations between the two, I would pay for a copy of the report to show he is the trouble maker and not the other tenant. He could find out your address in the courts on thier computer, if you have dealt with the courts for any issues in the past. He may also be able to go to a realastate (sp) site that shows what houses belong to what people. The other tenants should also send a letter stating the problems they have has with the tenant, that is pressing the charges. If it shows he is a trouble maker with complaints of his own, they may not take his charges as serious. I am not a lawyer, this is just what I would do if this happened to me.
