Hello,
My neighbor was just fired from her bartending position for refusing to serve a ex-coworker.
This ex-coworker had written an extremly threatening and slanderous message.
He used a black Sharpi pen and wrote the following message on the back of a T-shirt he had received as a gift from her the week before.

"THANX 4 THE SHIRT:
HOW ABOUT YOU PUT IT ON,
DRIVE OFF A CLIFF, AND
BURN IN HELL! YOU
BACK-STABBING F-UCK!
HOW CAN YOU EVEN LOOK IN
A MIRROR WITHOUT
CUTTING YOUR WRISTS?" Is'nt that nice!
She followed the chain of command, showed her manager the shirt, he thought it was funny and laughed!
She then requested a meeting with mgr.,herself and ex-coworker to no avail.
When returning to work, she was faced with a very uncomfortable situation, was told she could not "refuse to serve" this ex employee, even though he was being rude and tormenting her while she was trying to start her shift. She tryed to explain that until this problem was to be cleared up and settled she would be unable to perform her duties and give the other guests service they have become a custom to.
She pleaded several times with the manager to ask this guy to leave.
She was told, "He spends alot of money in here everynight" and then added,
"If ya can't get over your feelings & serve him" then, "Get outtahere" cause your Fired!
Needless to say, she was immediatly fired.

Any answers or advise you or anyone can possible send our way would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerly,
Catherine Cameron

Well, if she feels physically threatened by this person, she should contact the police.

While I'm not unsympathetic, and this boss sounds like a real jerk, there is no law the prohibits him from firing her under this situation. She should be glad she's out of there.

All I can recommend is that she file for unemployment benefits immediately. Wish her good luck for me.

Thanx for input, and she sure did file! That was the first thing we did after a shot or two! She probably is alot better off and will find another job, she was just curious if there was a legal leg she could stand on, just for a bit of justice. Ya know those bosses that will have large turnovers due to their sweet personalities! lol She would be a hero in this town, that's for sure!
Thanx again!
Regards,
Catherine
