My current empyloyer came to me the other day and told me I was a liability. ( ecxuse my spelling throught this) He said I was a liability due to an injury I received before I became employed here. I am on disability because of this injury and was before I started working here. My job is a very physcial job and my condition prevents me from doing it. Before he hired me I notified him that I had this condition, but at that time it did not prevent me from doing all the aspects of my job. I just worked in pain and had to take more breaks thank usual and he was fine with that. Well that condition has worsened and has gotten to the point that I cannot do any of the physcial aspects of the job. He asked me to get a statement from my doctor with what I could and couldnt do and for how long. My doctor wrote a letter and stated I could not do any type of strenous physcial activity or stand for long periods of time, and I needed to follow these guidelines for a period of one year than I would be re-evaluated. I gave the statement to my boss and he said that those kind of accomidations were not possibile, and told me he would get back with me in the next couple of days. Would someone please give me some advise on what I should do or what I can do either on the forum or e-mail I usually check my e-mail more often because I can check it from my phone.

thank you

If you are not qualified to perform the essential functions of your job, then you aren't qualifed under ADa. ADA requires that your job provide a reasonable accommodation that allows yo uto perform the essential functions of your job. Exempting you from them for at least a year would not be reasonable. Nor would it be reasonable to allow you to work against doctor's orders.
