I am a Human Resource manager for a large nursing home. I am familiar with the questions that I am legally allowed to ask in an interview. However, I am currently on a church committee that is hiring a new church secretary. Do the same laws apply or are there any exceptions based on the type of industry? (For example: am I allowed to ask if they go to church, believe in God, etc.) Thanks!

Yes, you are. Churches and some other religious organizations are allowed to determine that the religous beliefs of its employees are compatible with those of the church (or religious organization).
