Hi all,

Any assitance would be greatly appreciated.

I currently live in Michigan and have since our divorce, my ex is in CA where our divorce and child support were filed. I have been paying child support since 1997 for two children. My daughter is now 18 graduated high school moved out of her dads home and is not attending college. I would like to modify my child support order to stop the garnishment amount coming out of my check for at least my daughters portion. Not sure even where to start with this since I am out of state and my understanding is any modificiations need to be done in the state they were filed.

Thank you

you should request a review- however keep in mind that your support obligation will not drop by half, and if there has not been a review since 97 you may even end up paying more for one child that you were for two if your income has gone up significantly

That is not a problem I'm sure it will go up from what was calculated in 1997 but I don't think it could match what I am paying now. How do I go about the review process not even sure who to contact to get this process started or how I do this from out of state?

you would contact the agency that you pay your child support through...
