My son's wife, last year at Easter, told him to get out, she had a boyfriend. He eventually moved out, to keep her from moving into a lousey apartment bldg. in a bad part of town, with his kids. At first she agreed to split custody, a week at a time, then she suddenly changed her mind. She used to be a wonderful mother. Now, it seems that her focus is on herself and her boyfriend. In Feb. she let the 2 year old fall out of a shopping cart at WalMart, in the parking lot, head first. He did go to the ER, no fractures, but he kept a black eye & skinned head for 8 weeks. Last week, she let the 4 year old go with an untreated ear infection. It turned into mastoiditis. They had to do surgery on his skull to remove the infection. The ENT said it was from an untreated ear infection. She did admit that he had an earache for apporx. 3 weeks and she did not take him to the Dr. In Feb. my son noticed that the 2 yr. old's left testicle was swollen twice its size, he called her to see if she had taken him to the Dr. she said no, but she was aware of it and she planned to take him in a week or two. He told her that if her tit was swollen twice its size and hard as a rock (like his testicle),that she would have already taken herself to the Dr. True to her word, it was about 1 week before she took him to the Dr. He had a hernia. They had to do surgery right away. My question is...when do you start to suspect neglect / non-supervision? We already do!! My son is pursuing custody. But I know it is rare for the father to be granted custody. The boys say they want to live with their daddy and pitch a fit when it is time to go back to their moms. Also, the day care said that any time they are sick *including a 104 temp*, that when they call her, she won't come and get them.
Based on what I have just stated, what do you think his chances of getting them are?
