I work as a Server for a restaurant. I had a large party of 30 or so and when it came time to do everyone's bills, I did them 1 at a time to keep everything organized. I got down to the last family and noticed 2 open checks still. Since the last family knew the family that did not pay, she offered to take care of that bill. The next day the husband of the family that did not pay came in and said that he did pay. Well ultimately my boss is telling me I have to pay for the meal. $30.00! :mad: They have also made new policy stating that we (Server's) are in charge of our tables and if someone should walk out then it is our responsibility to pay for that bill. I would like to know if this is legal or not? Thank you!

If they're talking about deducting it from your paycheck, not unless you authorize the deduction in writing. See question #11 here:
