my wife makes more than i do. her job is transferring her so we will move in aprx 3 months. i will have to resign but only because i can not relocate. it's a bum rap but i will need unemployment until we get settled after the move. how can i gain approval? if i don't qualify, i understand i can appeal. what will help my case? if my employer backs me...? the wording when i submit my claim...? not looking for a free ride but will need unemployment until back on feet.

It is entirely dependent on state law. Some, but by no means all, states will permit UI for a "trailing spouse". I don't know off hand if your state does or not (rjc?) but if it does not, nothing you or your employer can say will make any difference as it is simply not a qualifying reason under the law.
