Does anyone have a sample of a well written usable hair safety policy. I am in a manufacturing plant and our current policy seems to be to vague. Because it is so vague we have many employees frustrated that it is not applied equally from department to department.

This is something that you are probably going to need to address department by department. Look at what makes sense in each area and enforce the policy as it applies. Some areas it may be fine to leave hair down. Others might require it be tied back and secure to avoid gettng it caught in machine parts. Others may require that caps or hairnets be worn.

If the problem is that certain managers are not enforcing the safety regulations with regard to hair, then you need to be having a long talk with those folks and holding them accountable for enforcing policies.
