I have a supevisor who systematically abuses me verbally calling me with names, yelling at me in front of other employees and making complaints to the manager of the company about my professional conduct. Several times I spoke with the manager about this situation. The manager undestands everything but does nothing to fix it because the abusive supervisor plays an important role in the company. Please tell me what can I do in this situation and what are my rights?

If you had to guess, what would you say was the supervisor's reason for this behavior?

I'm asking for a reason, and it can affect the response you get and what options you have, but I don't want to put words in your mouth.

I beleive no one can have a reason to humiliate me verbally weather one by one or in front of other workers. The supervisor belongs to the kind of people that feel pleasure in humiliating others and overriding as many people arround as possible. This supervisor constantly looks for additional cause to disgrace me publically by calling me "whore" and making me feel miserable. Is there a possible reason for any supervisor to treat an employee like this? And what makes me feel really bad is that the manager of our company knows everything and does nothing to stop this humiliation. Is there any options for me exept quiting this job?

You need to answer cbg's question if you expect an answer. No one is looking for justification of the situation. We do need to know why you feel you are being targeted though. Are you a member of a protected class? You mentioned that the supervisor "belongs to the kind of people"... what kind of people is that?

Your rights are dependent upon what was said and what was the motivation behind the words being said. A supervisor being a jerk is not illegal. A supervisor mistreating the employees is not illegal. However, if you can give more details on why this supervisor is picking on you then maybe you do have options other than quitting.

Calling you a whore sounds like this could be gender-based. Is that true?
