I work for a national corporation that used an independent firm to verify dependant eligibility for health insurance. During the verification process I received requests for personal private information from the third party company (Birth certificates, marriage certificates social security information etc.) after reviewing the verification company's no fault privacy policy and federal HIPPA rules. I felt I should not send them protected private information. I contacted the verification company as advised by my employer. They advised me to send them a notarized affidavit in place of the requested documents. I then checked with my employer and verified this was satisfactory. Three weeks later I received a letter stating that my family coverage has been terminated. Upon contacting my employer they state that the verification company didn’t receive complete information. That I can reenroll my family at the next enrollment period in 5 months and there is nothing else they can do. All attempts to resolve this issue have failed. I am starting to receive medical bill from several months back. What do I do to fix this?? Can I fix this?
