Any person, partnership, corporation or business may file a bankruptcy. If the bankruptcy case is initiated by the person or entity that owes the money (debtor) it is called a voluntary bankruptcy. If the case is initiated by creditors of the person or entity that owes them money it is called an involuntary bankruptcy. Voluntary cases can be filed under chapters 7,9,11,12 and 13.
