Hello. With all the posts in this forum, I think I've found my answer, but would like to be sure...
In CA, the 7th consecutive day law applies only for those 7 days within one work-week? What if I was scheduled my two days off at the begining of one work week, and then, my next two scheduled days off at the end of the second work-week, thus working ten days straight, but in two different work weeks (same pay period)? If this is the case, I've just been "worked hard," but haven't earned any OT per the "7 days."(?) The laws are supposed to protect employees, aren't they (granted, employers too)? I don't understand the reasoning of limiting the "7 consecutive days" to one work-week, as this creates a nice little loop-hole in which employees can be exploited over the course of two work weeks.

Yes, it is the seventh consecutive day in the workweek as defined by the employer. When the workweek begins again, the clock starts over. Whatever the reasoning was is really irrelevant.

It's too bad the human body's clock doesn't start over at the begining of the new workweek.
Thanks for the reply, Pattymd.
