I have termintaed my parental rights. Very long story. I live in Illinois kids born in Illinois, we divorced in Illinois, court papers for custody and child support in Illinois, she and kids moved to Florida she stopped letting me see the kids, anyway I terminated my paretnal rights, along with rights to pay child support, went thru courts and everything. I just found out she moved back to Illinois. Can she try and get cs or anything from me? I was told she is going to try. She lived in Florida for 4 years with our son before I terminated my rights in Florida. I was told that she is going to firght it in Illinois since that is were the origianl paper work was filed. I was wondering if she could do this could she get an cs from me and if so can I fight to see my son? I was told that what we signed in Florida is the end no more for me to see my son ever or pay cs or have any say in his life. I was just wondering if anyone could ligten me on this. Thanks

Was the child adopted by a step-parent?

ARe you certain that this was a termination and not an agreement of sorts?

What I mean is that she agreed to drop support and you agreed to terminated visitation rights? There's a BIG difference here!

The paperwork was legal termination. I had a lawyer in Florida to look over paperwork. There was a rule we signed at time of termination that said I'm signing the termination on the agreement she cancels all if any back child support and any future support. This was called a rule 11 agreeement. Than I also signed the termination. Everything was done thru the courts in Floriday.

Then you should be in the clear. The only thing I could see happening, is if she does try to file in IL, you would have to provide the court with your paperwork terminating parental rights. You should be good after that. She should know that once someone terminates parental rights, that's it forever. She should have not agreed to it if she was going to change her mind. She is out of luck!!!!

I answered you on your thread. His rights were terminated in FL, not IL.
