I was called my my place of employment and told that i was being fired over the phone and that I would need to turn my keys in. When I asked my manager if I would have my last check when I can in she told me no, and that it would be here friday. So I came into the store friday and asked for my check and it wasn't here. My manager said she put that I quit friday and it would take 72 hours for me to receive my last check. So i missed 3 days of work and I think this is illegal. am I right, what should I do?

In California you are supposed to be paid at the time you are terminated. If you quit without notice the employer has 72 hours. I would recommend that you contact your local labor board. It should be in the government section of the white pages.

It's called the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement in California.
