I work in a setting where there are professional Medical Staff and regular status employees. Is the following maternity leave policy leagal?

Professional medical staff: Upon hire date: 6 weeks paid leave and can take up to 3 months off.

regular status staff: Upon hire date: 2 weeks paid, but can take off up to 3 months. If you have worked for the company for more than 4 years you get 4 weeks paid and can take off up to 3 months, more than 6 years you get 6 weeks paid and can take up to 3 months off.

To me it sounds fair, but is is leagal?

Yes, it is. It is a myth that all employees have to receive exactly the same benefits. In this case benefits are based on length of tenure with the company and on job position, neither of which is a protected characteristic. As long as who gets what is not based on a protected characteristic, you have have a policy that grants anything you want.
